For many years, the Electronic Industry has been plagued with intrusions of Counterfeit Components into the Supply Chain. This problem has steadily continued and the frequency of intrusions have increased over the years. As the Counterfeit Mitigation techniques improved so did the counterfeiters’ technologies. As a result, Counterfeiters and Counterfeit Detection efforts had had a “cat and mouse” game since the beginning. Some experts blame it on governments’ slow response to the latest counterfeit improvements while others give a more tangible reason relating to mitigators role as “reacting” to counterfeiters position to counter the new counterfeit techniques which is inherently lagging what has already hit the supply chain.
